At Chessions, accessible from chessions.online, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Chessions and how we use it.

Information We Collect

We collect and use your personal information only to provide and improve our services to you:

  • Account Information: If you choose to register/login using Google OAuth, we collect basic profile information such as your name, email address, and profile picture to maintain your account dashboard.
  • Transaction Records: If you purchase a Premium subscription, our payment processor (Paddle) provides us with your name, email address, transaction ID, and subscription status. We do NOT store or process your credit card number, bank account details, or any full payment instrument data — this is handled directly by Paddle under their PCI-DSS certified environment.
  • Usage Data: We may collect non-personally identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request to better understand how our visitors use the website.
  • User Content: Game PGNs you import, FEN bookmarks, and personal notes are saved securely on our servers if you are logged in, solely for the purpose of providing you with your personal Analysis History.

Browser Extension (Chessions Chess Analyzer)

The Chessions Chess Analyzer browser extension allows users to capture chess board screenshots or input PGN directly from any website and analyze positions using our AI-powered tools. The extension operates under the following privacy principles:

  • No Personal Data Collection: The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, or browsing history.
  • Local Processing: Image capture, cropping, and PGN input are handled entirely on your device. No data leaves your browser until you explicitly click "Analyze Position" or "Analyze PGN".
  • Limited Data Transmission: When you choose to analyze, only the cropped chess board image or the provided PGN string is sent to https://chessions.online/ for analysis. No other data from your browser or device is transmitted.
  • Permissions Usage: The extension requests the minimum permissions required: activeTab (to capture the current tab when you trigger capture), scripting (to pass analysis data to the analyzer page), tabs (to create analyzer tabs), and storage (temporary session storage for capture data). Host permission is granted only for https://chessions.online/* to enable communication with our analyzer service.
  • No Tracking or Remote Code: The extension does not track user activity, does not load remote scripts, and does not use any analytics or telemetry.

By using the Chessions Chess Analyzer extension, you agree that captured images and PGN are processed solely for chess analysis purposes as described above.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our website.
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our website.
  • Understand and analyze how you use our website.
  • Develop new features, functionality, and services.
  • Process and manage your Premium subscription, including billing, invoicing, and customer support.

Payment Processing

Premium subscription payments are processed by Paddle (Paddle.com, Paddle Payments Ltd, registered in Ireland and the UK) for international customers, and by TriPay for customers in Indonesia. When you make a purchase:

  • Your payment details (credit card number, bank account, or other financial data) are sent directly to the payment processor over a secure, encrypted connection. We never have access to this data.
  • We receive only the minimum transaction information needed to activate and manage your subscription: your name, email, transaction ID, and subscription status.
  • Paddle is a certified PCI-DSS Level 1 Service Provider. Please refer to their privacy policy: Paddle Privacy Policy.
  • TriPay is a licensed payment service provider in Indonesia. Please refer to their privacy policy: TriPay Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

We retain your account data (profile, PGN history, bookmarks) for as long as your account is active. Transaction records (name, email, transaction ID, date, amount) are retained for a minimum of 5 years to comply with tax and accounting obligations in Indonesia, after which they are anonymized or deleted.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing admin@chessions.online. Note that transaction records may be retained beyond account deletion where required by law.

Cookies and Google AdSense

Chessions uses 'cookies' to store information including visitors' preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. These cookies are used to securely manage user login sessions.

We also utilize Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads to our site visitors based upon their visit to our site and other sites on the internet. However, visitors may choose to decline the use of DART cookies by visiting the Google ad and content network Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Integrations

Our website interfaces with public platforms like Chess.com and Lichess via their public APIs when requested by the user. Information fetched from these platforms is used purely to provide game analysis services and is subject to the respective privacy policies of those platforms.

Payment processing involves the following third party: Paddle (for international payments). Paddle acts as an independent data controller for the payment data you provide directly to them.

Your Rights
